Tropical eye look

So, I did this look a while ago and was super pleased with how it came out. I wanted to experiment with different colours and do a look I hadn’t tried before. It was almost a year ago that I did this (July 2017) and I still really love how it turned out, and I had managed to get my lashes on and looking good this day as well so that’s another thing to celebrate.

This was the eye look I created. It’s simple, but the mix of bright colours looks super pretty and tropical to me. This was also my first time using blue/green eyeshadow and I love it!.

I created this look using the makeup revolution flawless matte palette for my transition shades, and the BH cosmetics first edition 120 colour palette for the colours.

I used 3 brushes, the Morphe MB23 & 25, and the BH cosmetics 12 blending brush, which is my all time favourite fluffy brush (and only cost me £2).

Eyelashes are ardell Demi whispies.

For my eyebrows I used a makeup revolution eyebrow quad in shade medium (the darkest shade and the wax). This came across quite purple on my and wasn’t a very good shade match, but it was easy to use and filled in my brows nicely.

For the rest of my face I used revlon colour stay foundation in fresh beige. This foundation doesn’t have super high coverage, especially with my pigmentation left by acne, but I think it makes the skin look nice. My skin in these pictures is very textured and you can really see how uneven it is, but it shows how my skincare routine is working.

This is a more recent picture of my skin, and there is considerably less texture and less spots (I talk about what I use on my skin here & I will post about my full skincare routine soon). My eyebrow pencil actually matches my hair colour as well which is a plus!

For concealer I used collection lasting perfection concealer in fair. I quite like the coverage of this concealer, it isn’t high coverage but it does quite a nice job, though I feel like it dries my under eyes out, and it creases.

Contour is W7 contour stick in medium and collections contour and highlight palette. I really enjoy this contour stick as it is warm toned and easy to blend & It doesn’t look orange on me, but warms up my face. The collection contour and highlight palette is really nice and small, which is convenient for travel, and i find the contour powder blends nicely without going patchy. It’s quite cool toned, which I’m sure makes no sense considering I used a warm toned cream contour but I find if I mix warm and cool toned I get the perfect shade.

The blush I’m wearing is ‘luminoso’ by Milani and it’s a beautiful shimmery rosy pink shade. I still wear this blush a lot as it makes me look fresh faced and glowing, without being too much.

The highlight I’m wearing is LA girl strobe powder in 100 watt. I accidentally bought a shade that too light for me but I really liked the way the highlighter looked so bought this more champagne gold shade and it’s a perfect match for my skin tone. It is however a little more on the glittery side, and If i don’t moisturise enough or if its a cold day, it doesn’t really cling to and emphasise dry patches on my cheeks.

Lipstick is benefit cosmetics they’re real – double the lip in ‘fuchsia fever’ which is really bright and not the lip I would pick to go with this eye look now, but if you’re into a bright pink lipstick this is really nice. I like the idea of the two shades that blend together to create an ombre look, it makes the lips appear more plump/full.

I’d love to create another look like this, and it really inspires me to whip this palette back out. The range of colours is amazing and so fun, and although some of the colours can be a bit chalky, I find that most of them are really easy to use.

I hope you enjoyed the look, leave me some lipstick suggestions that you’d put with this in the comments (please, I’m terrible at pairing lipstick with eye looks, as is evident).

Personally, I love the whole look. If you wanted to change it up, you could do a lighter toned lip, close to a nude. Either way, it’s super pretty!

Thank you! I love a bold lip and bold eye look but I know a lot of people go for one or the other!
